The Sunny Sailing Peloponnese Flotilla starts from Lefkas Marina - Yachtsun Yacht Base. This new marina is within easy walking distance to Lefkas town, the largest town on Lefkas Island with a good selection of shops and eating places. The marina is well equiped with mooring lines, showers, bars, supermarket, water and electricity.
The flotilla starts on 3rd May for four weeks, with the option of a two week, one-way flotilla: Lefkas to Athens or Athens to Lefkas.
LOOKING FOR A CHALLENGE?
This flotilla is suitable for anyone with sailing experience in the Mediterranean Sea, especially for those who have also already sailed in a Sunny Sailing or other Ionian, Corfu or the Saronic Gulf flotillas and are looking for a new challenge!
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
Your flotilla leader is Frank Smits, sailing on the lead yacht, he will do all the preparation and planning of this trip. During the cruise he will be available to offer assistance when needed, but naturally you, as skipper and co-skipper, will be responsible for your own yacht at all times, as you progress from one place to the other.
To be skipper and co skipper you must be able and confident to sail the yacht on your own, which means the following:
You can navigate on open seas;
You can moor a yacht on your own;
Sail by night;
Have no problems to enter new harbours, even at night; and
Be able to carry out small repairs on the yacht.
Minimum of experience ie: Some years sailing as skipper and co-skipper on sailing yachts on the Ijsselmeer or on the North Sea. If you sailed previously in a Greek flotilla you have the advantage of knowing how to anchor in Greek Seas. You must be prepared for open seas and waves similar to those experienced on a trip around Lefkas Island.
If you do not know whether your experience level would be sufficient, just give us a call and we will be pleased to discuss it with you.
SKIPPER CHARTER
If you lack the experience or confidence you do not have to miss out on this wonderful opportunity, with your own skipper you can still join the flotilla and enjoy the experience.
CABIN CHARTER
If you would like to join the flotilla, but are alone, you can book a cabin charter. Some experience with sailing on bigger seas is recommended. You will have a cabin (possibly shared) on the lead yacht. There will be the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy the company of others with the same enthusiasm for sailing and Greece, and in the evenings you will meet and dine with the crews from the other yachts.
DATES - 3rd MAY to 31st MAY 2008
Check in is on Saturday 3rd of May 2008 at Lefkas Marina and the flotilla sets sail on Sunday 4th May to return on 30th May, ready to disembark on Saturday 31st May 2008.
ONE-WAY FLOTILLA OPTIONS: LEFKAS TO ATHENS or ATHENS TO LEFKAS
If you just can't manage four weeks there is the option to join the flotilla for a one-way two week flotilla.
You can sail from Lefkas to Athens via the south side of the Peloponessos (± 350 sea miles) from 3rd of May till the 17th of May 2008, or alternatively you can take the return journey back from Athens to Lefkas, via the Corinth Canal and Gulf of Corinth Patras (± 250 sea miles) from 17th of May till the 31st May 2008.
