The Ionian Islands Greece

The Ionian's most popular months are June, July & August; many people however do prefer the gentler heat of early and late season. Each year an increasing amount of visitors are discovering the pleasant climate and the good sailing during early and late season holidays. The sailing area extends from Corfu in the North to Zakynthos in the South it provides perfect sailing for the less experienced skipper, placid and predictable for anyone with a reasonable level of competence, yet still challenging and interesting for the experienced sailor. Included in the sailing area are the islands of Meganisi,   www.meganisi.gr/EN/   Kalamos, Kastos and the larger islands of Kefallinia and Ithaca (all approximately within a two to three hour cruise). The Ionian still offers comparatively inexpensive sailing, once you have left the yacht base there are few harbour or overnight charges to pay.

Yachtsun yachts are based on Lefkas Island,  www.lefkada.gr/    start on Saturdays & Sundays. There are direct flights from Manchester and Gatwick to Preveza Airport, which is just a thirty minute taxi ride from Lefkas Island. There are also yachts at Corfu where charters start on Saturdays & Mondays in line with flights from UK airports.

In the Ionian we offer a selection of yachts to suit all tastes: New Bavaria yachts, a selection of other modern yachts including Sun Odyssey & Oceanis and classic yachts (these are older boats, well maintained, preferred by some for their individual characteristics). In addition to these, Yachtsun also offer Beneteau First 211s for day sailing - the choice is yours!

Normally you will be able to board your yacht no later than 17:00 hrs on the day of your arrival. (9:30 hrs for  the Beneteau First 211s). Yachts must be returned to the base before 17:00 hrs the day before your departure.

Special early boarding is organised for crews arriving on Sundays for the Sunny Sailing flotilla, so they will be ready to leave the marina on Sunday afternoon.
